Axle stands.

I have bought these ‘on the off chance’ from Lidl (£25 for 4 stands) which is a very good price but I don’t know if they are suitable for use with my A4 Avant Estate B6 2.4ltr petrol.

Do I need special ‘bits’ between the stands and the car? I’ve never used axle stands before and normally rely on the jack with a log under the sill for emergency.

Any advice (inc “take them back”) would be most gratefully received.

As long as the weight is rated for the corner your jacking up and you are putting it in a sensible place you’ll be fine.

They might become annoying over time since you have to align the hole to put the pin in everytime. The ratchet types are better for that but they don't fold away like these.

Some similar ones came with the trolley jack I got from ScrewFix. The chains on the pins are rather fine and have a way of tangling up in the foot splay / retract mechanism. One more annoyance when you're already grumpy about a bolt that is seized, etc... But sturdy enough for use.
