The other night the oil light came on so topped it up with a litre but light stayed on.checked it now and if anything its too high on dipstick so couldn't have been low.its worrying to say the least.I've seen people write about bonnet sensor being a cause but sounds stupid.my bonnet release was stuck a few says prior but sprayed it with wd40 which fixed it.any advice on fix please

Why does it sound stupid? The dash needs to know if the oil has been checked and opening the bonnet is a good indication, after opening the bonnet, if the switch is working it will turn off the yellow warning for 62 miles, I.e. 100Km. If your bonnet switch is faulty, you can replicate the effect by disconnecting the battery for a few seconds.
