Hi All
First post on this forum
I have a problem with passat b6 estate boot lock. It was stuck but I managed to open from emergency release latch. Checked on VCDS and got a code for boot lock fault. I bought one used and replaced it. After replacing mechanism, fault code is gone but boot still doesn't open with key, driver door or release handle.
Micro swith works but boot wont open. With VCDS, mechanism (central locking) motor operates but boot still dont open. It only opens from emergency release latch.
I've stripped loom where it enters into car body and couldn't find any wire broken.
Any idea what it could be ?
Any help will be appreciated

Coild it habe been jammed shut or run into, and distorted al8gnment a bit? If you open the boot then use a solid bar like acrewdriver shaft to mimic the staple the latch closes against will it release when free of friction / tightness?

It doesn't open even with boot open but mechanism locked by hand

It's one of the electrical realease types I'm assuming. Do you hear or feel any signs of life when triggering release from VCDS? Bit of a twitch? Groan of motor taking up strain against gears?

Yes , when I open with VCDS, motor operates
And if I supply 12V direct to pin 4, motor operates but it doesnt unlock
Weird!

I know it's difficult to join up descriptions and reality with a lot of these things.
Reading you first and most recent post you seem to be saying when the latch motor operates on your 2nd hand / breaker unit it doesnt open the boot. That sounds like a broken latch mechanism. If it sounds unstrained then I'd guess the drive gears are broken in a disengaged from load way. If it sounds laboured maybe broken teeth or jammed part of drive. If the last of those a good spray with lubricant could help. I'd try grease first, and operate manually a few times. Then WD40 if necessary.

Yes you are right. Motor operates with VCDS but doesnt unlock the door. While when I try to.open boot manually with release switch, then motor doesn't operate. Nothing happens. I've checked release switch, its working. And wiring is intact.
Weird ? Isnt

How did you check the release switch?
Do you still have the old latch, and does its behaviour offer any clues?
As before, when the motor moves is it a swift, unloaded whizz, whizz sound. Or a more laboured, loaded effect?

Only the estate suffers from this, only the estate has a wiper motor with a washer jet fitting directly above the lock unit and screen wash water contains salt... the fitting and the motor leak and are made by Valeo, why VAG stick with Valeo can only be down to price as everything they make falls to bits.

Had same issue worked OK all day until I wanted to go home boot lock wouldn't lock
Ordered new one at £14 fitted it next day easy job took 10 minutes to put on found the two out of four small terminals had corrodetryed cleaning up and snapped, difficult to understand why as they were dry ,no issues with lock now
