Hi

I want to update my maps using an SD card, as I have done in the past.

For the life of me, I can't find the right place on the myaudi website.

Is it still there somewhere or is no longer available.

I need most of western Europe (UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany) for an up coming trip. Over The Air won't let me download all these regions, though UK & Central France is available.

Grateful for any advice.

Cheers

Found it!

Map Update
Download Installer

Europe Version 2020 is 12 GB (GB, Ireland & Iceland is only 0.7GB)

Opens a new page which initially showed "Failed loading Mapcare installer" then I saw a file at the bottom of the page that had to be accepted. Then I was able to load the maps onto a newly formated 32GB SD card

(I used Chrome with Java enabled)

Hope this helps someone else.

Cheers

Excellent, do you have to pay for this if your vehicle is over 3 years old?

Or just download direct from VW servers http://vw-mapscdn.tdd.adacorcdn.com/P184_N60S5MIBH3_EU.7z much easier than messing with stupid java downloader

Yes, then, if I remember correctly, go through the menu, car, servicing and then update maps.

As far as I know free map updates are only available during the first three years from first registry.

Extract the 7zip (7z) file to an SD card yeah, then pop it in and choose "update" from the settings menu

That link you gave does not ask for details at all, it just gives you the file. This could be a work around for those out of warranty period.

Nope, its only useful for those who have cars that are currently licensed for the latest maps. The install will not start if your car's map update entitlements have expired

You would have thought that was something that could be changed in OBDEleven?

That's not possible

Not possible I'm afraid. Licenses are controlled as part of the MMI operating system, nothing to do with "coding"

Thanks for that. Saves me doing it. Mine is only a month out of warranty. Any idea how much it is to purchase it?

I think Audi need to make this easier and cheaper to update. There’s also an element of safety related to out of date maps.

I was travelling back south yesterday and where the new A14 has opened up joining the A1 with the M11, not having the new road included leads to the adaptive cruise control doing dangerous things. It’s okay for those of us that are technically minded and understand how it works but that’s not most people!

Having recently purchased a used A6 Avant (2016) C7 with RMC MMI and 2016 SD Map, I was a little disappointed with the Audi MMI interface and the annual cost at upgrading the Maps. After trawling through the internet I came across Integrated Automotive UK (https://integratedautomotive.co.uk/) and their retrofit device to allow Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Granted I've had to fork out the £445 but I can now use the updated SATNAV maps via Android Auto and it integrates seamlessly with the Audi OEM setup.

Thanks! I'll leave it to download whilst I have a beer (or two). Had an online chat with Audi who said that I could download the map update from the myAudi website but I couldn't find a link to download on the site so I rang them up. I was then told that the download WASN'T available online & that I'd have to take it in to a dealer (30 miles away) to have it updated at a cost. The car is less than 6 months old and it's a bit of a bummer to spend 40k on a car to then have to pay to get the map updated.... Ah well, the joys of owning an Audi!
Will let you know how I get on tomorrow when the 25.7Gb download has completed :o

I am about to try the same in a few days. So how did it go? :)
I guess the link above is for the whole of Europe, right? Or just EU member counties?

Thanks!

Is this just for the Q7 or could a 2014 A3 use it?

Having problems downloading it - it starts OK than stops around 1 - 1.5Gb (varies) with an error message "Failed - network error". I've tried 3 different browsers (Firefox, Chrome & Opera) with the same result every time. I'm currently using Windows 10 but I've also tried on an ancient PC running XP but again the same problem. I don't think it's an issue with my broadband as I get about 15-20 Mbps and when it is downloading the file it comes in at around 2.2 Mbps. Anyone any suggestions?

Question for andyhud007 - do you have the file on a cloud server, e.g. Dropbox or Google Drive that I could download it from?

Incidentally the file I'm trying to download is 25.7Gb which is way more than the file on the SD card in my car which is only 12Gb so I'm assuming it covers an even greater area than mine. My file DBinfo.txt is dated 04/12/18 and says:

PartNumber1="V03959802LE"
ApplicationSoftwareVersionNumber="0043"
SystemName="ECE 2019/2020"

Variant="ECE"
ReleaseName="2019/2020"
DevVersion="P43_N60MIBSCALE1_EU_NT_Q3.18"

I followed the link and downloaded yesterday, let it run overnight and all good 27Gb.
Win10, 64Bit, Google Chrome, my internet speed is only 8GB as still on telegraph pole!

At last I got the download to work! Do I just unzip the file to a SD card and put it in SD slot 1 to replace the existing Audi nav sd card?

I'm just about to try the update too, so had the same questions. Also does the SD card have to be 32GB or is bigger OK as well?

Thanks

Tim

YES , Unzip to a 32Gb SD card and insert in one of the slots in car, it should update by itself I think.

Assuming your navigation licence has not expired of course.

The direct downloads are bigger because they include MIB1 and MIB2 folders for a variety of different VAG cars, whereas the myAudi java downloader just pulls down what is required for Q7 4M.

Also if car didn't recognise the update after it's been downloaded and unzipped to sd card, then that possibly means your map license (FeC codes) have expired for newer maps. UK cars come with an entitlement for 5 free updates, but it's time based. So if you choose not to update you don't get any longer. Essentially you get 2.5 years from manufacturing date.

Just looking through for a solution to what I'm after but your link doesn't seem to work for me. Basically when I download the 7z file for the latest UK maps I wait for 20-30 minutes which is fine but when I try to extract I get many data and check sum errors. I have a fairly slow laptop, but was wondering if there is another solution? Phil

Yeah, I've got the same problem. I tried first on my macbook, that gave an error (no reason - just 'there was an error' :confused: ) after 3 tries, I went on my Windows desktop and that explained the error (at least...) - whereby the Mac software had a green 'OK' tick next to 'Write Protected', the Windows version said it was locked (my bad too) After sliding the lock to Off, everything seemed to be going well until it got to the unzipping part after finishing the DL, then when almost complete, it threw up a checksum error and just bombed out asking me if I wanted to retry...an hour later - same thing! What a piece of... (sniff...you know what!) :mad:

Well, the car's 3yrs old in June....hopefully I'll have a solution before then :rolleyes:
