Morning Folks

Getting the new car up together

First descent run yesterday and was gobsmacked on how crap she was on fuel

Straight away i noticed she was not even getting to 70 on the temp gauge so new thermostat on order which i know will help the issue

Also noticed egr leaking oil , so new gaskets for that on order, will also give it a good clean as i know these can fowl up.

Anything else i should be looking at ?

Excellent service history inc oil change 3 months ago. Air filter done. Will also get a new fuel filter in case

My previous A6 Avant 2.7tdi quattro was much better on fuel

Thanks

Gary

Might as well do a new CTS whilst coolant is drained down a bit .

Update
New oem stat fitted along with new egr
Did a 80mile trip this morn.
41mpg driving at 70mph.
Surely should be better than this on fuel??

I don't think that is unexpected....170 always been quite thirsty then you've got the heavier avant, and quatro which is a major fuel drain. It's not great but normal for your build of car I'd say

No quattro, but I have a 2011 avant, 170. Best I get on regular journeys is about 42. On the motorway, it might get to 47 driving around 70. I find that unless the heaters / ac is off, temp rarely gets to 90 on regular 10-20 mile journeys, usually rests around 70/80. I don't think it's the thermostat, but it'd be helpful to know if you find it does make a difference.

Stat makes huge difference
Dpf wont regen if car does not get to 90 on gauge
After new stat car bang on 90 no matter what, got 47mpg today.
Have noticed regen took place yesterday after 80 mile drive think this has helped mpg.
