My A4 Avant Estate didn’t have an under the engine floor tray (what is the proper name for this part?) when I acquired it.

I have noticed that when it is wet that I occasionally get some warning lights come on and am assuming water 'in the electrics (connectors)' to be the cause.

Are they worth the trouble to get and replace? I wonder why the old one came off so does anybody know where are the mounting/fixing points are? Was it a lazy mechanic or something missing/broken that caused these trays to be missing.

As ever, it’s an old car (reg in 03) and, I don't doubt, I am probably going to be the last owner so it's not really worth throwing any money at it. Having said that, it's a lovely motor (if a bit thirsty)and I can't really afford to replace it + “better the devil you know”?

Is there a ’parts wanted/bits for sale' section? Off to have a look round the forum.

I thought I'll start 'at the top' and ask an Audi dealer for the prices of new bits.

Engine tray - £144
Tranny tray - £95
Fixings - £5.30 EACH.

I always think that manufacturers would want to sell off the spares for old motors cheaply to save ending up with stock that is of no use?

I've seen the full set with fixings on eBay for about £90
