Annual car insurance renewal time. Car is 6 year old A6 C7 2.0 TUI black edition.. Scotland north Ayrshire location. Came across price comparison annual renewal premium of c£234 ...fully comp with protected NCD. Single driver.. late 50,s, handsome. Company is Quotelinedirect. Very tempted... it will be a broker I would imagine.
What do you think? I’m not going to have any accidents anyway..

I ended up going for it. This saved me over £200 on my renewal quotation from m&s car insurance.
I had a previous claim/cyclist collision that ended up hitting my premium even when protected so this may be a factor..
Learning points here for me are.. always do a price comparison.. and don’t be afraid to jump from provider to provider..

In my experience, very cheap unheard of insurance companies can be an absolute nightmare to deal with in the event of a claim, and even worse when it's not your fault, and you 're claiming off someone else's insurance. The first thing they do is try and pick the claim to bits to see if they can wiggle out of it, or shift the blame onto your insurance, then railroad you into having to use their 'approved' (cheap and nasty) repairer, which means you'll get an awful repair riddled with faults, so the time lost attempting to get these fixed starts spiralling. If there is any delay in the repair, the hire company starts demanding the hire vehicle to be returned, as you have to fight for a hire extension (hours on the phone)
I speak from bitter experience of 2 nightmare claims, and my wife's experience working in the insurance industry.
Bottom line is, I always used reputable known insurers, and pay a bit more knowing a claim should be a lot easier.

I get those concerns on using reputable companies... tho I guess you can issues even with the well known names.
When I had a cyclist run into me a few years back.. I was with an unknown broker.. car ended up going back to Audi body shop for repair at my request.. c£3500 repair.. claims process and courtesy car provision were all fine.. maybe I was just lucky..
Life’s a gamble.. my positive attitude is that I’m not going to have any accidents (gulp)
