Just bought this Aukey (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075T8H9XJ) DR02 D (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075T8H9XJ) dual dash cam, which I'm going to be installing in my MY2017 C7.

36150

I have a few queries I'm hoping you guys can help with:

Routing cables to rear camera, would anyone suggest via the headlining, or the floor?
Might there be DAB signal issues with the MY2017 like there are with older models?
Would anyone like me to document this installation with photos and a step by step?

Cheers,

BS...

The DAB issue has nothing to do with the model year/make of the car, it more to do with cheap dashcam's not being fully EMC tested so they emit a lot of interference on the DAB frequency, you can get around this with ferrites or buying one from a known manufacture which comply with all the UK's EMC laws.

Ah, cool, thanks for that. I just read a few posts where people were getting their rear screens replaced due to a known fault with DAB reception, which appeared to be fixed with newer models.

Dual Dash Cam
Hi,
I am very interested in your installation of the Aukey DRO2 dual dash cam and if you have had any issue's with your DAB sinal since installation.
I have been considering fitting the Aukey dual dash cam into my 2018 - A8
Had used the Aukey Dash cam in my previous car which was a Jaguar XJ and had no problems, very pleased with the quality of the recordings for price it cost.

Right, the front camera's installed along with the GPS receiver, and it's working perfectly.

I'll put a guide together shortly...

I'm happy to report zero issues with DAB reception using the front camera.

Any pics of the finished install? Looking at dashcam options at the moment.

Have you finalised the installation?

I'm about to install/ hardwire 2CH camera's and would appreciate any guidance.
I chose the Viofo A129 pro duo which is similar to your dash cam.
I'm installing it into a 2016 A6 AVANT and have a general idea of what needs doing but interested in how others have done it, the problems they have encountered and how they have overcome them.
Forseeable problems so far:
The ferrite core for the power cable will be difficult to tuck under windscreen headlining. Initial considerations looks like it will dent headlining. The headlining light cluster may need removal to assist.
The lead for the rear camera is chunky and may be difficult to hide.
Airbag considerations having read various posts.
Getting camera lead to rear camera on tailgate as there is no rubber sleeve containing existing wire looms - must be in the tailgate hinges as they have plastic coverings.
Wanting to push rear camera cable through headlining but have panoramic roof.
Anticipating lots of trim removal but need to ensure going to do it correctly.

If anyone reading has useful links for year of vehicle they would be appreciated. Youtube has some good vids but veh's are out of date now.
TIA.

Hi guys, sorry for the delay in replying.

I had no success with the rear camera, it just killed the DAB as soon as it was powered on, regardless of where I positioned it. What a massive error on Audi's part. Do they not think people would like to install rear dash cams? Oh well, I'm happy with just the front for now, until someone works something out.

Have you tried using ferrite rings/sleeve near to the power outlet to the DashCam, as that will help suppress interference. When I initially installed my dashcam I lost all reception, FM and DAB due to interference. A ferrite ring sorted the issues for me.

I have the Audi front & rear dash cam's and have no problems with my DAB reception and did not have to use any additional ferrite's. The issue is all down the lack of emission testing by the manufacture of the dash cams, and not Audi's aerial amplifiers. As stated above get some ferrite's that covers the dab frequency range. I would get two place one as near to the rear camera as possible and the second at the start of the feed cable. Also you may have to do a second turn of the cable around the ferrite as the frequency range it can protect changes on the number of turns.
