Hi all

New here, just picked up a 2014 A6 TDI 3.0 SE in Aviator Blue. One thing that's suddenly dawned on me is that there is no footrest for my redundant left foot. Is this correct?

If so, how can I fit one?

Cheers :)

There is one but it's the worst design in history. It's really far back towards the bulkhead and at a really bad angle. There are a few threads about it. Some notice it as bad design but others dont notice it.

Unfortunately I do. I either have the choice of using it and bending my right leg at an awkward angle to use the accelerator or straighten my right leg and leave my left foot dangling....I sometimes stock a wooden block onto the footrest to pull it forward.

Thanks, I thought I must be missing something as it's unreal a car like this doesn't have a proper foot rest! May have to look at some fix for it but don't want to fall into the trap of safety/becoming unfixed and blocking pedals etc.

I need to adjust as I've had my left foot on the rest (I use the term loosely) and my right leg at an angle, causing the bolster of my seat to press hard into my thigh. Grrrrrr

That's exactly the same as me! It's a kind of unnatural position to sit in. Strangely, some people dont notice it at all!!

I'm expecting a certain level of adjustment as I've spent the last 3.5 years driving a Range Rover :)

However, I had an S60R Volvo before that, and this A6 I'm loving in a similar manner.

Hi have read this a number of times but never thought about it, as I have not noticed an issue. 2015 (65) FL looked at my leg this morning, I have long legs and my left foot rests on the lower part of the rest, my leg is straight and relaxed. The lower section of the rest is further inbound than the top so perhaps the issue is people trying to use the rest as a whole rather than part of it. As said I have long legs so perhaps those with shorter legs may experience an issue as the rest is at the end of the tunnel. Answer, stilts ??? Hope my experience assists.

Thanks... My natural reaction is to put my left foot fully on the rest, because that's what I've done before. I think I have a muscle memory adjustment to make.

I believe the footrest is removable, we could do with someone with a 3D printer to create a "thicker" version of it :)

I've scoured the internet on more than one occasion to find an aftermarket fix for this but never found anything. Seems to be a marmite type of thing. You notice it or you dont. Most dont seemingly.

For me, I'd expect the footrest to be in line with my accelerator foot when driving but it's not. Its miles forward and this causes me to have to twist in the seat.

That position is exactly my expectation. Like I said, we need to find someone with a 3D printer who can scan the original part and just increase the depth. They'd make a fortune from it!

Yes, I'd buy it. I sometimes use a block of wood.....I dont tell anybody that though....
