Mk5 golf 1.9tdi dsg driveshafts info

Hi,I'm new here.have a dsg golf,its 07 and the driveshafts are gone,inner and outer on both sides.problem is when I went to buy new ones I was told that they have a few different shafts for that make and model and I'd have to remove old shaft and count the splines to order correct ones,does that sound right?online on flebay it doesn't say that when you go to order.anyone know any info on this.help appreciated...great forum too!!

Even the VAG parts system show 21 pages of Golf 5 drive shafts, get you mind past that and you can narrow it down to seven for the 6 speed DSG. But the USA market Mexican built model only has five pages of options and there is only one page for DSG and that only came with the BPY engine. The exchange genuine replacements the left shaft is VW part number 3C0 407 451 FX and the right is 5Q0 407 454 BX . If the old ones still have their stickers on, the right will be 1K0 407 272 or RL and the left 1K0 407 271 NP. You can just but the joints and re-use the shafts. The specs for the inners is 6 x M10 holes, 108 OD, 32mm deep, 28 spline and the outers have 36 wheel hub splines, 27 internals splines and are 98mm OD.
