I have the VW Arteon 2018 2.0 TSi Rline
Anyone have any idea if "Beep on Door Lock" can be activated with VCDS? There is nothing on user Infotainment interface.
Does it firstly require the vehicle to have dedicated sqeekers? I can imagine this could be why my Dealer says it cannot be done!

It is against EU law now so I think it has been completely deleted but a check of the coding blocks may be informative, it uses the horn siren for the sound when activated on other models.

Thanks for that Crasher, I spent a couple of hours Googling for EU, DVLA & MOT updates concerning said beeps and checked "PM's Deal" as to whether we would get our beeps back if Brexit her way.
Seems that USA are complaining against them there horns that honk in the night; and so it becomes the norm.
Anyway, the problem is my Arteon is so quite on tickover that I sometimes exit the vehicle and assume that I have locked it only to discover the engine is still running when I cannot make the lights blink. But first I assume the sunlight is dazling my eyes, or the key has a flat battery.
The VW User Manual should say, check the mirrors fold in if you cannot see the flashers.
So as my problem is not stopping the engine before exiting, I would settle for a fix that automatically turns off ignition when driver door is opened.
But maybe that is not a good idea. Last month I went in a shop after locking (????) the car, only to return 5 minutes later to find the doors unlocked and the a/c still blowing.

These "advanced" keys are becoming something of a liability. I did an engine rebuild on a Corrado VR6 a few weeks ago and during the run up the alarm caused the engine to cut. I bridged out the ancient squark box and finished my work but I was deeply concerned to hand it back with only the OE ignition key as protection as the owner has thousands in it. I said I would fit an immobiliser, my favourite for 20 years has been the Toad Power key which became the Sterling Excel so I called Scorpion to get one and they were out of stock due to demand. Apparently they are selling more than ever to add security to all these key-less cars that are being nicked.... that's progress for you.
