Play music from USB?

I've got a 64gb USB stick but when I insert it, I get the message "it is not possible to play from this source". At first I thought it was because of the format (it was exFat) but the manual says it supports NTFS so I formatted as that but still the same.

Any clues?

I used guiformat (google it) which allows a 64gb drive to be formatted as FAT32 and it works fine. Stupid manual - why do I bother reading them? :-)
