A6 Allroad with "factory fitted" towbar and 13 pin electric socket ..... but some of the pins in the socket are missing that are used on a UK spec caravan.... basically the ignition switched 12 volt supply and earth used to power the fridge/habitation relay/battery charging.

Swindon Audi Techs don't seem to have a clue what I'm talking about :( I don't believe every Audi in the UK used for towing is incorrectly wired, all I need is, at a guess, a replacement socket with ALL the pins present and wired up, and a split charge relay fitted to the present "permanent live", any one any ideas on part numbers/availability/cost etc etc ??

You need the extra wiring to power the fridge. They are not standard from the factory and is subject to lots of misconceptions from uninformed dealers. The kit is widely available but I don't have a part number. This is the same across vag cars and is something that is rarely mentioned at purchase/specifying a new car

Well, Swindon Audi have been worse than useless, telling me I don't need the switched 12 volt and earth as it is not used !!!

I have, at last, found an independent towbar company that understand the problem and will do the job, gonna cost me £120.00 though !! Thanks Audi :(

All now sorted, less than an hour to someone who knows what he's doing !! And he also showed me invoices where he supplies Swindon Audi with the pins needed to do the job, even though the parts dept know nothing about it !! A very neat and tidy job and it all works as advertised :) All now ready for me to try towing with it this weekend, looking forward to this :)
