View Full Version : Radio changes station on its own.

Hi. 65 plate FL. I the last few weeks the radio has started to randomly change station. When this happens its at start up, the wife listens to a local station and I prefer R2, but most of the time its left on the local station, even if I am on my own. Less grief when she uses the car!
I will be listening to the local station, leave the car, come back and sometimes on startup it will have changed, in most cases to R2 but also other random stations. It has happened to both of us, so do not think it has anything to do with key memory, its not the touch panel being accidentally touched, its tuned to DAB and stays on DAB not going to FM. Has anybody experienced this, or is it that the car just prefers Radio 2 ??? It happens perhaps every 15-20 startups, if that helps. :confused:

I have a 64 plate pre-face-lift Ultra and also have this sometimes. I've never been able to work out why it sometimes resets to a different station than it was last on - we only use the one key so it can't be because it remembers different settings for the different keys. I usually listen to R3 and it defaults to this if it decides not to stay on the station that I was last listening to...

My 65 fl tech pack car does similar, give the touchpad a gentle clean, mine will select another station if the one you want is not available ( no signal ) on start up, sometimes gets a bit confused if i start selecting satnav before the system is up and running. Plus on occasions it won’t select stations from touchpad but will from steering wheel. I’ve given up trying to rhyme or reason and see it as a bit of modern automobile character.

Check the settings within the Radio to see if "Alternate Frequency" is enabled. This can cause the radio to jump around!

Hi Yes looked at that. If the selected DAB station is lost it resorts to the FM version, which it dose. This is just a random station change at start up occasionally, have to say that it only appears to happen on DAB, don't often use FM as stations we listen to are on DAB, so it could be a DAB tunner issue. Might try using FM for a while to see what happens. Ta
