Hi all,

I am hoping for some help.

The front of my car is significantly lowered and will not come up; Furthermore, the suspension options on the MMI display are all greyed out, so I cannot switch to any other mode.

The amber suspension light is on the dashboard (permanently). Occasionally, I see the green suspension symbol come up on the dashboard (when I start moving) but it then disappears. I can hear the compressor going so it seems to still be working;

I've tried the Suspension Level Control Calibration with VAGCOM but when I a do a read (of any channel), the system waits for a while, and then comes up with a message in red saying channel not available. When I check the errors, I repeatedly get 01437 Control Position Not Learned. No matter how many times I clear this error, the pattern above repeats.

01437 - Control Position not Learned
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 11100101
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 130
Mileage: 193288 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2018.12.20
Time: 09:42:02

Freeze Frame:
Error Code: 6

I also notice that the function for lowering the rear of the car from the boot is no longer available. There is just no light showing at all. I have checked all the fuses (5A -Driver Side Fusebox, 40A under passenger seat, 5A in luggage compartment, and J403 relay in the drivers footwell), and they all check fine.

My suspension has always had a minor leak, so I am ignoring that error for now. I have been told that it is probably the compressor, but need to get a bit more conclusive evidence before I start to look into buying a new one.

Can anyone add any thoughts on where to look next?

Most common issue is the relay, it sticks causing the compressor to burn out. Some recommend replacing the relay to as a preventative measure.
I suspect your compressor is knackered even though you can hear it running. I would start by getting it checked. There was an ebay seller call “bag piping andy” that sold refurb kits for the compressor internals for small money. Not sure if they are still available.

Hi there, did you find the culprit for this? I’m having the exact same symptoms. Just changed my compressor so that isn’t the issue in this instance

An aftermarket €300 compressor solved my issue but I traded the vehicle 6 months later.
I’d suggest a level sensor as being another possible cause but you probably need someone knowledgeable with VCDS or similar to solve rather than throwing parts at it.
