Potential purchase -14 plate Leon 1.6 Diesel

Hope everyone had a good Xmas.

My son is looking at changing his car and has found this:

I've only recently joined the forum with my 2008 B6 1.9 TDI Passat estate so haven't yet got to grips with all the ins and outs of VAG products.

Is there anything that particularly needs checking etc. or issues to be aware of?

The CAYC code engine has been something of a nightmare, mostly regarding external devices such as the EGR valve but also it was the main engine affected by the EA189 emissions saga which in itself was a disaster if the car received the recall modifications. I have seen a few high mileage units with oil pressure problems.

We have a 2014 1.6 TDi Leon SE. It was not affected by the emissions scandal. As far as I am aware it was only the previous versions of the engines that were.
