Having made the mistake of selling a WR ur quattro 10 years ago, just before values started to rise, I am thinking about an S2.

I believe that there are only about 130 left, according to 'how many left', but can anyone advise if this is correct and also how many were actually sold in the UK? Similarly some advice upon potential problems to look out for would be helpful, eg do they have the manifold issue that the quattro had? Hopefully the answer will be no, but it would be good to know before jumping into the deep end.

Generally they were very reliable if serviced regularly and the rarer 6 speed was the one to go for but we hardly ever see them now, we have two of the arler type 85 Coupes in at the moment (both the same owner) and one is a GT and there are only 36 of those left on the road. The manifold was the same as the earlier versions, the one piece design but still prone to chuffin and currently hard to find, I don't know if AM Cars still do theirs. Even the manifold to head and turbo gaskets are obsolete mainstream. One major irritation is coil packs. The same chap with the two type 80's also has an S4 with the AAN engine which is closeley related to the ABY using the same coil packs. These are very difficult to find and are hard wired together in a harness and replacement is time consuming IF you can get them.

Thanks for prompt reply.
I've spotted a 94, 6 speed car which certainly looks well cared for from the photos, trouble is it's 200 miles away, therefore worth asking some qquestions to save a wasted journey? Christmas commitments also get in the way. Will have to give it more thought but thanks again for advice.
