Hi All,
I just bought a 2001 Passat TDI 130 BHP and am well impressed with it. The car drives beutifully and is very nippy for such a big car. My first diesel so still getting used to the slightly noisier engine and little bit more engine vibration.
I've just noticed the other day that my mpg display goes bonkers somtimes when i'me driving, one min its 10, 14, 18, 25 mpg then its flashes to 120mpg, then back to 20mpg etc.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anybody have any advice for what i should do?
Thanks

You may have it set to "instant MPG" rather then "journey average MPG".
Average is denoted by a o with a diagonal line through it (the symbol for average).
To change, scroll around using the wiper stalk end control.
You will probably find that the average reads about 7% in error. Mine does and I think its a VW ploy to make you think they are even more economical than they are.

Definitely sounds like instant to me. Mine varies from anything to 5mpg and under when hammering it, to hundreds of mpg or even ------ when coasting downhill in gear. :)
