Dash Cam

Has anybody had work done at a garage and found that the first thing they do is unplug your Dash Cam?
If so was reasons were given?

Our car got rear ended and dropped into a panel beaters. When we got the car back the camera was broken off its mount.
They claimed it wasnt anything to do with them. So I had to replace the mount myself. It was strange, no idea why they would want to remove it like that.
