Wondered could someone help?
I bought my A6 S line about 2 months ago and the Stop/Start activated all the time... I was getting frustrated by it so the first thing i did when started was turned it off using the switch on the dash. Now I've noticed it never activates.... even when i turn it back on?
Anyone ever experienced this? Just want to make sure it still works ok, but i cant get my car to stop/start

Be happy to not to use this bug... er, so called "feature". Honestly, the reason could be quite obvious, if you use the climate unit, it usually never turns off the engine, and on low battery power this systm never activates. It's also a normal behaviour not to activate if the engine's temperature is low.

Your battery and starter will last longer... If the symbol on the dash has a line through it there could be a reason that will come up with a code read.

Thanks for the reply, yeah the symbol appears with a line through it... any idea how to find out what it is stopping this workin? Is there something on VCDS that would advise me?

Do you have 4 zone climate? If so check the temp setting in the rear, if its set really low or high then your stop start wont kick in. Think its the same if your in sport mode.

Hi Kev,
I don't have 4 zone climate.... yesterday I turned off my radio, lights, fan for air circulation etc and nothing plugged into the cigarette lighter and the symbol still appeared and start/stop would not work
Do you have manual or auto ?

It could be that the battery is weak and the battery monitoring unit will pick this up so yes a full systems fault code scan first.

Its an Auto DSG... I will try a full auto-scan using VCDS and see if it brings anything up :) was hoping i was missing something simple
I think the most easiest thing is to check the battery level :)

Does the engine cooling fan stay on for a while after you walk away from the car? If so, its probably doing a re-gen of the DPF and running hotter. In these cases too, the stop/start disables itself.
