Hello!
I'm owner of Passat 2008y, 1.8 TSI 160 HP [BZB- engine code]
On all 4 cylinders I'm down with compression into 10,5bar. Engine is working just on 3 Cylinders/ 4th one is not working correctly, Cylinder Missfire is all the time one the VCDS error scan.
Auto is in mechanic already, propably the 4th Piston got damaged and all "rings" I will have to change. SO overall I will have to make an entire engine exchage or revitalize it.

MY quesiton is; Can i buy an 2.5 170HP, the non-direct injection version and put it into the car? I know that B7 is using such an Engine with CBU/CBT code, but I have no clue how it goes with the B6 passat, anyone knows??

If you get a different engine version, providing your existing engine mounts / exhaust and other components that enable the engine to mount and be functional are in the right places, then you would probably also need to change other electronic equipment to make it work. This would be very expensive unless you can find a CBU / CBT engine complete with wiring looms and ECU that can mount straight inside the engine bay and has compatible fixtures, pipework and other matching ancilliaries. Unlikely that this will be an easy or straight swap and could involve much modification. Just get your engine rebuilt if no serious damage as from the sound of it you would only need new ring sets, head gasket and a few other parts for it to be running well again. Worst case scenario get another good bottom end from a scrapped car with the same engine or even a complete used BZB unit.
