Has anyone successfully updated their sat nav. The VW version is over £200 but there’s lots of alternatives around on eBay etc for £26 but I’m a little nervous in case I brick my unit.
Has anyone used these people?

I updated my 510 a year or so back. The first disc I purchased was off ebay and described as original OEM but it was not. The face of the disc had been home printed and it's contents download from a web ripper. While it may have been OK I decided to return the disc and get a refund. Eventually had to ask Paypal to do the latter for me as the seller became difficult.

Being a little wiser and knowing what to look for I purchase of an original DVD kit at about 1/2 VW costs.

I think the supplier you link is selling ripped software. The web page is very simple. Their contact phone is a mobile so I suspect a one man band, home computer, ripping and printing discs/sd cards. Also no contact address that I could find easily.

Generally the v9 updates seem OK but as UMEL says most cheap one will not be official VW ones. For the RNS315 you need to avoid the v10 update which has a bug and is widely reported on elsewhere and that is for both the VW version and the ripped ones.

One of the cheap options, a guy in Latvia goes into some detail in his advert about v9 and v10 saying especially for UK users v9 is better. Have you used one of the ripped versions.

I did buy the official DVD cellophane sealed and from ebay but a more honest seller.

Just a little feedback. I got a £40 V9 on eBay from a guy in Birmingham. All went very well. When I tried to leave feed back he had disappeared from eBay so I can’t provide a link. Anyone know which version would have been originally installed in 2013 it seemed quite out of date. Also anyone know when V9 was issued.
