Hi to All,
came across a very good YouTube in regard to the oil change, does not look difficult but I have some concerns that the knowledgeable member may be of assistance.
To complete the job properly the car should be level. Without a hoist I am not inclined to get under the car, resting on four jacks. So

1) I plan to collect the oil removed and replace with the same amount. I am told it should be 4.5 litres, but VW on initial fills tend to be over this amount ( the 4.5 litres is still to be confirmed ).

2) How do you collect the radio code ?
The battery will be removed for a long period of time ( my first steady attempt at this with an engine oil change included ).
With the battery removed should there be additional information recorded before the removal ?
l do have a VCDS but use it infrequently.

3) Any idea of oil specs, I am in Australia so oil specs may be a little different to the UK.

I look forward to your experienced replies, especially if (my) oil replacement procedure may cause any undue problems.

Best regards
John

Resting on 4 jacks isn't ideal, you need axle stands.

In the UK with OEM radio's the radio code is stored in the ecu. When you disconnect the battery and reconnect the ecu checks the radio code is correct. If not it will ask for the code. It you have none OEM you can't get the free radio code from a dealer.

Dear Keithuk,
Thank you for the reply. I neglected to say that I usually run the car up on ramps to do the engine oil change, hence not having the car level.
The radio is Oem. Stands under the axle, any pictures to indicate the correct positions.
