Hi, I've just joined the forum as I have bought a 1996 1.8SE A4 (with a few minor problems!)

These problems seem common and I have seen some advice on the forum already but would like to clarify a few things.

IDLE - After cleaning the throttle body, does the car always need reprogrammed or is there any other way (disconnect battery perhaps)? Also, will it need a new gasket?

DASH LIGHTS - I would like to remove the instrument panel to renew a bulb. A few post suggest this is not too difficult. However: is there any chance I will set off air bag? Will the fascia need reprogrammed if I remove the connectors?

Many thanks in advance.

no and no but you do not need to remove the wheel to get the dash out and yes it is easy

Thanks Paul.

I cleaned out the throttle body and the car now idles much better.

I will give the bulbs a go soon.

Cheers, Ian
