Hi guys

I've a 2008 A4 B8, with 160k km on the clock. Nothing special: 1.8T, CVT (8 speed), stock standard.

If I change too quickly from reverse into forward, or forward into reverse (of course, I am completely stopped when I change between gears), and go to move the car, I get a bang from the auto. If I take longer: ie, pull up, change gears, and then wait a sec before I accelerate to move, it doesn't happen. There's no other problems with the auto - seems to operate just fine in every other driving scenario.

Ideas? Is this a common problem? Can't seem to find anything on the net about it... apologies if I've just missed it in my search.

I'm hoping to get it for an auto service soon, but want to be forewarned... (BTW - I do plenty of my own work - is there a "how to" change the oil in the CVT?)

Thanks

Just the way they are, from new? Nothing to worry about?

Sometimes in case of this behavior adapting multitronic with specific service diagnostic tool will help and make clutch engagment fine again, but this can also mean serious problem with gearbox clutch pack and that will need specialist work to get it fixed. Look up for multitronic specialists near you, this is not the job for average garage.
Not the brightest gearbox reliability wise in the world.

Yes it is. And it has forward and backward clutches.
