Car wont start , i parked it and went inside my house for few mins , car was running ok , when i tried restarting i had nth at all happening , glow plug lights went out and all was well with the initial start procedure but no crank .
I managed to get it started after 10 mins of constant trying then same problem happened again after i stopped and tried restarting.
The car runs ok after it was bump started but i dont have a clue what this can be , its been fine til now , i fitted brand new battery few weeks ago and its not that , i would be greatful for any advice .. thanks.

What was the reason for the new battery.

I know you say it's not the battery but personally I always look for coincidences.

How do you know it's not the new one.

Battery was original and basically it had used its life it was 6 years old and in constant use , I am just waiting for AA recovery to check my car and go from there , I hope its sth small and fixable , thanks for the reply will keep post updated.

Just had the car checked and following code remains P304900 starter relay 2 (actuation) open circuit . Cant seem to find the location of the relay for the starter , it maybe that, or it maybe the clutch pedal position sensor making the code throw up. For now my AA mate put live feed from the starter solenoid , just means i must lift the bonnet and make live contact with the battery terminal to bypass the starter circuit , but i can use the car for now . Does anyone have any advice on what to do further and where is the location of the starter relay , its engine code CFF and its 2011 2.0 d 103 kw bluemotion passat. many thanks .

I thought all the relays were in the box under the bonnet.

i maybe wrong as i cant exactly pinpoint the relay carrier but its a possibility it maybe UNDER the top segment of the main fusebox under the bonnet , i cant seem to find it anywhere even google search comes up iffy .

Just need to find location of starter relay 2 , then buy one and fit it , if that fails then its likely to be the pedal sensor , ive given up trying to find it on google its like finding rocking horse poop.

I found an old topic which said it was under the dash on earlier Passats but no other info.

Just an update on how it all went . auto electrician found no signal between relay number 2 and the 10 amp fuse located in the driver side fuse panel. He ran a temporary wire between the 2 and atm its fine , just waiting til he has time to put a better wire and neater job , as it would be well expensive trying to find the short /break in the loom .

Hello,

Just wondering if the mechanic told you the location of relay2?
Have similar problem with a sharan and can't find the location of relay2...

Cheers

Sorry for the late reply , its under the main fuse box , EVERYTHING has to come out , battery , main fuse box and its hidden under that.. a real nightmare.

I wonder if this is a common issue as the B7 has been voted a Lemon of reliability when it was considered at first a much improvement over a chocolate B6 .
