Hello there lads and ladies i am new here but having glanced through the Forum i am very impressed with the help and knowledge of some people on here.. I have what i think is a small problem but i am not sure.. can anyone PLEASE HELP!!!

I recently bought a 02 Audi A4 with 45000 miles only on the clock but noticed the 'air breather' hose was split i went to an Audi garage and got the replacement hose and got an Audi technician(A mate of mine on his own time) to fit it.. it involved taking off the manifold to get at the bottom of the hose.. he done the job last night and the car is running perfect but my problem is this: As i was driving away from my mates house the 'enging management light' came on so i went straght back to him and he hooked it up to the comp and it 'read' zero errors so he said to me there was "nothing to worry about" he then 'erased' it and the light went off so i was happy.. But then again last night the light re-appeared and hasnt gone off since.. Is it just a case of a slight problem caused by the new air breather and it will go away or do yous think it is something more serious??? I have spent alot of money on this car and dont want my engine to suffer any major probs..

A bit long winded i know but your help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Normally if the egnine Man light comes on a fault will be logged.. this can be accessed via VAG-COM in the Engine section.

I would suggest getting the car hooked up again after a few miles to re-read the code.. it may of logged some data now..

If its a air beather pipe, it may of caused a mis-fire tripping the light... but a fault would of been logged...

What software is your mate using to read codes?

Rick i am not sure what software he was using.. I am not to mechanically minded to be honest.. But a green light flashed on the comp and it said vechicle logged so there was definatly good communication between the comp and car..

I would make sure he is using vag-com to scan the code firstly.

If a warning light comes up, its because of a fault generally, and thus this is logged and can be read using vag com.
