Installing backup camera to RNS 510

Annoyingly, our new Passat B7 came without any parking cam or sensors. Is the camera an easy add-on to the RNS 510 head unit, or should I stick with a standard reversing sensor kit?

I did one on a Golf 6 using a Kufatec harness, it drove me potty with the problems until we found that the plug was badly made and was not engaging in the head unit correctly without forcing it in but even then it still comes up blue screen sometimes or flickers and constantly leaves CAN system errors as it does not communicate properly.

I fitted one to my estate and the hardest hardware fitting part was getting cables through the rubber gaiters from the tailgate and into the roof lining. Apart from that it’s just trim removal and cable routing. You will need VCDS to programme it in. There are some versions out there that do not show the yellow lines moving with the steering. If that is important ensure you get one with the canbus cables to connect it.
