new to the forum, A4 B8 59 plate with 139k FSH, do about 20k annually @70% on motorway
a couple of weeks back i got an engine management light come on so ordered a code reader off of ebay
code was P2452 DPF pressure sensor circuit
had a google seemed the sensor has failed
ordered replacement from ebay p/n 076906051A
found a vid on youtube for replacement
replaced it & reset code & light out all good ........
drove about for 3 days just round the doors no motorway no issues
last night light on again same code !!
further googling discovered this should have been "adapted" via VCDS ??

my first question though is does this look more like a dodgy new sensor or not the sensor in the 1st place ??

any advise as this is all smoke & mirrors to me :-)

Cheers

The engine management light coming on, could be caused by different issues...

I asked whether you have had a software update because I had the same issue with the engine management light after I had the EA 189 update...but this was caused by a failure in my EGR cooler due to the updated software.

so the code it reads P2452 may not actually be the issue sensor failed?

fwiw i registered for the EA update but no one ever rang me to arrange a date/time.. said there was a 2 month wait but its been a lot longer than that!

hi, could you elaborate on that this is the scanner i got to read the code

AUDI A4 03- OBD OBD2 CAR FAULT CODE READER SCANNER DIAGNOSTIC TOOL UK NEW | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161800971334)

assume i need something else to check logs etc .. VCDS ?

apologies if i sound vague :-)

Did you login and re-adapt the new pressure sensor to the ECU?

Did you login and re-adapt the new pressure sensor to the ECU?

no as above i just followed a youtube vid but know understand this should have been done

i assume i need some sort of software/cable to do this or someone who has !?

would not doing this just cause the fault to return on the 'new' sensor ?

thanks

The sensor has to be calibrated and also the ash and soot levels checked. To do this you need a diagnostic system which will allow you to view Measuring Blocks and also access Basic Settings, Adaptations and Logins PLUS give you the coding values you need to enter, full VCDS can do most cars but not all, sometimes I have to use the dealer system ODIS but yours should be covered by the VCDS pop up help boxes.

Would it still flag same fault if calibration is not done?

just nipped out & had reset/drive and then captured some freeze frame data :-

DTCFRZF P2452
LOAD_PCT(%) 0.0
ETC(C) 4
MAP(kPa) 97
RPM(/min) 0
IAT(C) 4
MAF(g/s) 237.47
TP(%) 90.2
FRP(kPA) 860.0

if that sheds any light ??

also original part number was 07Z906051B new part :-076906051A

was listed as compatible by seller ?

Did you change the hoses?whats your dpf pressure offset value? Did you check for a live and an earth on the 3 pin pressure sensor . Be careful with the sensors some work on a 3 volt system some work on a 5 volt system. I would only use genuine parts.

no i didnt change the hoses
no idea on the offset pressure? again assume i need VCDS laptop ? !
didnt check 3v/5v

i assumed the sensor was ok as it was fine for @3 days

i think i might be getting out of my depth here... thought it was a simple (ish) job...!

you dont buy off ebay, all copied,go to main dealer pay about may be £75,two minutes to fit,go to a garage to erase fault. All done.

You have fitted the wrong sensor, 07Z 906 051 B changes to 059 906 051 A and is used on the Common Rail TDI V6, I assume that is what your car is? 076 906 051 A is for an up to 2008 4 cylinder PD TDI with the BPW, BRB, BRD, BRE or BVA code engines.

erase fault.All done.

No, it needs calibrating as well

Engine code you can check in your pr code sticker in service book or around spare wheel area!

you can start the engine not an issue.find local garage, charge £10 or£20 reset the light.I changed this sensor on my son Audi 4 59 Plate B8 engine 3 years ago and no issue, been happy motoring.

Using the VIN shown on your data sticker I can confirm using ETKA FI suggestion that the part number you need is 059 906 051 A.
