Bought our Passat a couple of weeks ago, probably time to introduce myself!
Not new to VAG, I’ve owned my 2005 Audi A2 1.4TDi SE for 12 years, it’s one of the last ‘SE’ models before the run-out ‘Speical Edition’ model was introduced, it’s been a faithful family friend and is barely run in at 126k - it’s relatively standard, only the climate + metallic pack and 3-seat bench seat as factory options, although I’ve added a few bits over the years including cruise, iPod (remember those) link and a few other bits, it also has a Stealth remap.
After a number of years having Citroën’s as the family car (C4 Picasso and 2 x DS4’s) we decided to sell the last DS4 after 12 months which wasn’t a patch on the previous car and a reliability joke (the previous two Citroën’s we’re excellent) so a large estate meant a straight choice between an A4 and Passat, the VW got the nod as the B8 GT is pretty much exactly what we want. I drove the 150 and 190SCR back-to-back and to be honest the performance difference wasn’t obvious and the 190 had no service history (direct from VW, tut tut) where as the 150 had been sold by the dealer first time on a PCP and had stamps in the book every 10-11k; deal done.
Anyway, I’m thoroughly impressed with the car on every level, oh and we tow a caravan...sorry!
