Hi all. Problem: Audi A6 Avant leak from sprinkler into MMI system in trunk. Symptom: Black Screen. Actions taken: Got an electrical engineer to check the amp and he says it looks ok. Did a VCDS test and found faults on all devices. Then I did an optical bus diagnosis and got the following

Control Module Part Number: 4F0 910 468 A
Component and/or Version: Gateway H11 0070

Optical Bus Diagnostic : Standard

Controller Electrical Optical
19-CAN Gateway OK ERROR
07-Control Head(High/D3) OK OK
0E-Media Player 1 OK OK
47-Sound System OK ERROR
56-Radio OK ERROR
37-Navigation OK ERROR

************************************************** **********

Can anyone help interpret this? I am not sure whether this means that the devices are ok, and the cable is damaged. In fact I have no clue what I am reading.

Thanks in advance

RB all the way from Denmark

there are two communications paths with the MOST bus systems. The first is a communication from the CAN controller to each of the other controllers where status can be obtained. The first OK on each module shows that the status is OK on each. It means, the module has power and can talk back to the Gateway.

The MOST also has a token ring optical bus. The place you see the errors indicates that there is a break in communications. The Message starts at the CAN controller. It is passed to the Control Head. The OK indicates the Control Head saw it so it passed it on to the Media Player. It too saw the message. So it passed it to the Sound System. The Sound System did not get the message nor did the Radio, nor did the Nav and it did not make it back to the CAN gateway... All those show error.

So your problem lies between the Media Player and the Sound System.

There is an optical bus loop tester that allows you to eliminate a control module from the optical loop...
