Hi everyone, i bought a 2001 tdi sport pd passat approx 18 months ago and have been delighted with it. Over the last few days though with the excessive rain i've discovered a horrendous leak in the passenger footwell behind the driver's seat which is overflowing onto the driver's side. It is not the common defect fault of the air filter seal as i've had this checked and that would only effect the front passenger side apparently. I hope someone out there is able to help rectify my dilemma, as it is only getting worse! :aargh4: Many thanks Kev.

Have you checked that the door/sunroof seals are not damaged, and have nothing contacting them such as leaves/other debris?
Also, check that all drainage holes are clear, such as those in the sunroof.

Kev,

There is another thread running on this somewhere if you do a search. I recently had the same problem with my 2001 saloon. The problem, which I am lead to believe is a common one, is either blocked drain holes, or a faulty seal under the pollen filter.

The drain holes are situated under the pollen filter. If you lift the bonnet, look at where the battery is located. The filter is under there and requires the cover and battery to be removed in order to remove the filter and unblock the drain holes.

My local independent garage did it for me for £40.00. A lot less than I was expecting to pay!

As I said earlier, do a search and you will find the link to a web page which gives step by step instructions in photographs on how to do the job yourself.

I hope this helps and wish you all the best.

Cheers

Katies dad.

Hi has the car had any repairs to the passenger door, if so it could be the liner between the door and the inside trim that has come unstuck. The reason I ask is having worked in the accident repair industry I came accross this problem of water getting into the footwells and 90% of the time it was this that caused the problem. Hope this helps.
