Because the car is used infrequently, I connect a CTEK battery charger when the car is in garage. I usually leave the bonnet slightly ajar to accommodate the leads.
This of course activates the bonnet open switch, which I assume prevents the electrical system going into sleep mode.
Is it preferable to completely close the bonnet, and allowing sleep mode or will it make no difference.

Car won't go into sleep mode so will be using a small part of the charge. There will be a way to route the charger cables so that you can shut the bonnet and lock the car.

I take mine out the front, over a headlight at the pointy bit at the top of the wing.

Thanks, I have made an extension using a flat cable. I can now route same as QUATRELLE, and keep bonnet closed.

If you're charging a battery in the garage. why would you be concerned about current drain caused by the bonnet not being closed fully ? The charger output would be many times any small current drain.

More academic, was attempting to find out if not entering sleep mode had any detrimental effects.
