Hot air blowing from the vents

Recently I was on holiday and one day suddenly the vents on the driver side of the car started blowing extremely hot air. I pulled over and stopped the car for a few mins and then it got back to normal. This never happened after that one occurrence till nor for about 2 weeks.

I am still concerned that something might be wrong. Why would cause the hot air to blow when air conditioner is running?

Common fault on the A6 either replace or repair the module shown in this link.

Thanks very much for the responses. I won't be able to do the DIY, buy will find a garage so can do it ��.
Roughly how much am I looking at to replace the HVAC unit?
