Hi

i bought a golf on the cheap last year and have had problems with it since the purchase.

2006 - BKD

i had the issue of the turbo cutting out under load with the P0401 code.
recently had everything changed.
new turbo, new egr, new maf, full service

and I am still getting the egr emissions engine light, p0401
what else can cause this code to keep coming back?

im able to do the work myself so some advice on things to check would be great.

thanks

Post your year, engine code ( on build sticker) DPF fitted, etc, as not much to go on there.

Out of curiosity, would the vacuum solenoid block have any influence on the issue? As I decided check everything and noticed moisture in the pipes which connected to the egr. There's about 6 pipes in the block and only saw moisture in the pipe which when followed goes to the egr. Is the block something which can be cleaned out?

Could be that the solenoid operated valve in the block for the EGR is not functioning, Is it moisture or oil residue that has been sucked up from the previous failed EGR? Oil residue might have gunked it up. If you can get VCDS you could function the EGR SOV to test it, I'm presuming your new EGR valve is ok and the diaphragm is not split, you can test by sucking on the pipe and see if it holds vacuum. I don't know how repairable those valve blocks are.

Cheers for the quick reply, I do think it was oil, so will investigate more tomorrow. Yeah my egr should be performing fine with no issues but shall double check that tomorrow too now.
Hopefully im a step closer to finding the issue. Cheers
