View Full Version : Td1 flag
With all this chat about remaps and chip boxes I was wondering is there a way to see if the car has a td1 flag? I have access to vcds and other diag tools, is it a case of checking certain bits on certain modules?

Audi send the data to the mothership and if variances are found it sends a flag back. There are 3 flags

So there's no way to tell if you were buying a 2nd hand car?
Can the dealers reject a trade in or lower its price if it's flagged?

A lot of audi dealers will not accept modified cars. When i traded in my RS4 the contact specifically said the deal was subject to it being checked for engine management changes.

So if you're thinking of buying used, can you ask your nearest Audi dealer to check a cars reg to see if it's flagged I wonder...?

Yes. Remeber this is a specific action. It doesn't just pop up when you get the oil changed at at an audi dealer. Its normally done on trade ins and to reject warranty claims

That's what I was thinking. I'm quite friendly with my local dealer so I don't think that will be a prob if I was gonna buy one.
I always thought it was stored on the ecu somewhere

If you never take your car to a dealer for servicing after a remap then it will never get flagged.

Car gets flagged even with VCDS mods when dealer attempts the software update. Basically Audi's VAG soft checks the car's config against what it supposed to be. It flashes the car with the update wiping the VCDS mods. In the same time it sends a flag yo the central evidence system. There is a thread on audizine or some other forum with the screenshot of how the flag works. I have only 3 VCDS mods and I disable them when I go to the dealer.

I have dozens of vcds mods and no td1/2/3 flag. Td1 is on ecu lookup table's, 2 and 3 is on sensor reading memory

I can confirm they do know about vcds mods. My A7 went in a few months back for some warranty work unrelated to software (creaks, start button not pressing properly etc)
I got a phonecall back saying if I had made any changes - I know the guy there so I was fine telling him what exactly I had done and he was happy it was correct and nothing that would cause an issue should any software things come up but essentially when they plugged it in, the car software parameters were compared to what was on file so to speak and a number of lines had flagged up as being modified.
In my case, it was just a few of the visual mods - sweeping needle, lap timer, mirror dip on reverse and recently, the lighting being always on inside without the lighting pack existing.
