View Full Version : Removing buttons from console??

So the other week I bought a cool looking bottle of Japanese pop. It had a little glass ball in the top which had to be pushed into the bottle to allow drinkage.

Being an idiot, I performed this action while sitting in the driver's seat. Cue a mini explosion of Asian lemonade inside my car. Since then, a couple of the buttons in the centre console have gone spongy in their action and lost the nice 'click'. I suspect a coating of syrupy stuff has got underneath!

Can the buttons be removed so I can clean in there? Do they just pop off with a screwdriver, or would it involve taking a load of interior trim out?

Any thoughts appreciated!

;)

Do not switch on mmi and you need to remove control panel(keyboard) take it to the bits and clean everything...hopefully permanent damage is not done already!

Thanks Gunnark100,

No damage - everything seems to work fine luckily. It is just the action of some buttons I want to improve.

Thanks for the link - I might give it a go...!

I really recommend give it a go, people had problems with spill even few weeks etc after and it may end up even replacing mainunit not only control panel(we just dont know did liquid reached circutboard or not, or is there liquid which still may damage circutboard). As far i remember you need to open keyboard anyway to get buttons out- maybe wrong, i never took buttons out on my, just took view what is inside:)!
