2006 A6 Avant -
I parked for 4 days at the airport. The car wouldn't unlock via fob, using key lock to open driver's door. No interior lights. No hazard light. No park brake led. Only 3 instrument dial lights on. With the key inserted in ignition switch, absolutely no systems power up. Key turning produced no ignition and certainly no engine cranking. Key then stuck in the switch.
The key was released by using the tiny button in the ignition switch bezel.
Breakdown Service attended and diagnosed completely flat battery. Then connected emergency 12v power pack to the battery terminals located in the engine bay. Car started immediately. With the engine running and the MMI screen now operating, the Battery Level indicator was at zero. Battery recharged on the 2hour drive home.
Airport parking facilities are pretty lonely places ar 2am! But thanks to this forum I'm home and in good humour!
