Looking for a bit of advice. Recently my air con is not blowing out cold air. My fan is running constantly when the engine is running. I took my car to a local garage and they plugged it in and say there seems to be a problem with the Air Con sensor. They quoted me a minimum of £250 to replace the sensor and re-gas. That sounds a bit steep to me. Looking for a bit of advice. Looking at prices of the sensor and the cost of a re-gas at other places, does anyone have experience of this and think that changing the sensor is what is needed?

For a start it doesn't need a re-gas if they mean the pressure sensor.
The fan is a separate issue, it could be a faulty relay, or fan control module. I'd take it elsewhere.....

OP it really would help if you had your year/engine/transmission in your signature...or in your post.
Also if yours has a single or dual fans?
There is a blower valve unit that can stick due to the coolant turning to varnish on the pins, but with everything it helps if you have it scanned with VCDS.
Oh, and it's worth shopping around for regassing services I found one local to me that was £19.99 inc on groupon...they even did a free antibac treatment :D

Cheapest isn't always best. The kwikfits of the world re-use the old gas that is vacuumed out of other cars, complete with moisture and debris.
Pay a bit more and get virgin gas.

Sorry for off topic, but why some Audi cars of same model have single and some have duble fan? May A4 B6 had single and each other that I looked had duble, now my A6 has also single. Why is that?

Hi,
It is an AUdi A6, 2010, 2.0 TDi, s-line Special Edition 170, Manual transmission. I have Dual Fans. The garage I took it to scanned it but was very vague. He originally said he would try a Re-Gas but then mentioned the AC sensor. I was thinking maybe a stuck relay or something similar for the fan running but wasn't sure about the Air Con. Where is the Blower Valve located?

I had the same problem were the fan always Run when the engine did and off when engine turned off but not when ignition on,I had the system tested and no leaks either on pressure or vacuum so I ended up changeing the pressure sensor g395 behind the front bumper and that cured it instantly, just beware if you have headlight washers as I pulled pipe off from passenger side when I removed front bumper.
i have a 2010 lemans 2.0tdi same spec as yours,if I were you I'd try that first then work from there as that's the cheapest to start with unless you have vagcoms then start there.

Forgot to mention the fan runs because the a/c calls for it
