Can anyone point me towards the best online resource for how to enable VIM (video in motion) on my 2007 Allroad C6 (think this is 2G MMI?). Doesn't seem to be anything about it on this forum and I can see some US forums with various suggestions, but I'm looking for a guide on how to enable the DVB-T TV tuner so it displays while driving (for the other half, not for me!)

Control module is responsible for this anyway, i dont belive tv tuner has separate speed limit(could be wrong maybe)!

for 2G:

Thanks - so this can only be accomplished using VCDS?

For 2G yes you need vcds for that, no point do buy those expensive dongles for activation!

Thanks Gunnark, today I got around to enabling VIM using VCDS. Thought I was using the site you linked to above, but seems I actually used this other one: AudiEnthusiasts Master (http://www.audienthusiasts.com/Articles_VIM.html)

anyway, it worked great and was very easy to do. The other half will be happy now as our tv aerial is at home. At least I can take her for a ride to IKEA and back if there's anything "must watch" on tv.

Next problem, I wonder if I could get the tv image out of the MMI unit and interface it to the screens in the headrests so the back seat passengers could also watch? Anyone know if MMI supports video out for TV signal? Then I would just need to cable it to the glovebox area (probably pretty tricky!) and get to the video connectors at the back of the (non-functioning) DVD players I have in there. Hmm...

I think I saw something on YouTube about a dension aux installation. Installing an aux will enable you to install headrest monitors that run off the DVD changer.

Thanks Darks. It's not an aux input I need. In fact I already have headrest screens and DVD players installed, I was just wondering if I can get the tv tuner signal out of the mmi as a video out. Then I could interface it to the existing headrest monitors possibly.

Which tv tuner you have - oem hybrid or aftermarket?

Hi
Not too sure, but I assume it's an OEM item. I can't check it right now as I'm away from home for a while.

if you have oem and not analog, it supports video etc output for rear! Signal not from mmi but from tv tuner to rear monitor(s)!

Ok great, thanks. I'll check this out. So I guess the tv tuner is in the boot, so I'll need to get some cables from there to the back of the glovebox where the video cables to the headrest screens are located.

I guess yes, but i never searched for this retro, so cant comment, will video-out run to extra dvd player or straight to monitors, probably via dvd!
