Our A6 Avant 2001 is running great as usual, but I was towing a very heavy load in Europe with the car well laden. It was hot and climbing a very large fast hill (although I was not so fast at that time, max speed available was about 55mph) the temp rising as we neared the top of the mountin (fast road) then when I went to change gear, the clutch went soft and the pedal would not return. The car still drove the temp was about 100 at the time. I stopped farther along and I found that I could pull the clutch pedal back up and all was well.
It happend a couple of other times if the water temp came up to about 100! Any ideas to what has caused this to happen? and is it repairable?
