Hello. I have been offered the above car from a friend. The car is in excellent condition, 90,000 miles, full service history etc BUT it has suffered an engine failure due to a suspected failed oil pump. The engine is a BGB. It is suggested that both the top and bottom of the engine is trashed.
I am no stranger to engine swaps, I have done around 20 over the years, so was thinking of buying this off him and fitting a 2nd hand engine. I am working to a budget and would not want to spend over £700 for the engine (I usually get engines for under £500). The problem however, is that I cannot find a used BGB engine anywhere (eBay, Gumtree etc). In all other engine swaps I have done I have normally found a huge selection to choose from, but BGB's seem to be incredibly rare. So, what are the options here? Does anyone know for definite if any other 2.0tfsi engines will fit?
