Just managed to get my summer wheels back on and came across a bit of a pain.
Is the tool that looks like a bent paper clip meant to be used for removing the nut covers? It was easy enough with a small set of mole grips but if I was stuck at the side of the road with a puncture that would have been a real pain to remove.
Is there an act to it? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a tool missing from my tray?
Also found something in the tray that looks like a credit card with a hole in it, is that a window/ice scraper?

Cheers

Al

Hi,

I have a 5 month old MY17 BE and also run winter wheels during the colder months.

The bent paper clip tool is rubbish!

Audi / VW sell this which I've got and it's amazing! I have no idea why they don't include it in the car?!

My car was brand new and it wasn't included in my tool kit. I looked everywhere and only had the bent paper clip tool you described.

I bought one of the tools pictured above but was surprised it wasn't included with the car.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My first & second C6 A6 and also the Q7 had this tool in the toolkit. BUT both C7 A6's and my current A7 did not. I also had a loaner A7 and that too did not have one. Ended up getting one from eBay but the other day when cleaning the car, I found one under the passenger seat - clearly did not belong to this car as it had the round metal clip for the audi logo cap which my toolkit already had so it does seem they are not coming with it anymore

So what about that credit card thing? What's that used for?

Might be way off here but I thought it was something to do with alignment or rear lights cluster removal? I'll have to dig out the manual to see if it mentions it

I had been wondering what that tool was... I got my A6 new in 2015 and that tool was in the glove compartment.

Hi 65 plate Fl have everything in the toolkit even bits not relating to my wheels i.e. the paperclip thing for removing centre caps, knew what that was for as have same for my 2003 TT. also very handy screw in rod to assist in location of stud holes, handy as wheels are difficult to manhandle on your knees... Gloves and wheel bag and a couple of things that are for ??? no credit card thing...

My one definitely didn't have it and only the dealers been at my car till today I swapped the wheels over.Depends on the wheels the car left the factory with. There are essentially two options either the wheel nuts are visible and each nuthas a seperate cover in which case you should have the twizzer type tool. The other option is a plat that covers the wheel nuts and this is removerd with the bent wire tool. Challenge of course is if the wheels are changed after the car has left the factory and replacement wheels are of the alternative type to those fitted as standard. The credit card tool is for removal of the wing mounted part of the rear light assembly. Not sure it is included if you have LED rear lights as there are no user serviceable parts (ie bulb!) in the unit so the owner would not be expected to need to access the unit.

I've just ordered one of those clips. Mine does not have anything to remove the plastic caps and like others I have been struggling using that bent bit of wire.

The tweezers tool (as pictured above) can usually be picked up at your local Audi for a couple of £s. I was also missing it when I first had a tyre puncture. I must have spent an hour trying everything but the kitchen sink to remove the wheel nut covers.
