Display Irritation

my A6 SE is 4 months old now, and loving it.

however, there is just one irritation, on starting the car the centre display always pops up. Most times I dont need it so I have to shut it again.

is there a way of getting it to default to not opening? I know you can turn off the MMI to achieve this, but this also turns off things I want.

Seen this question pop up in a loads of forums but as far as I know, there is no solution. I think it all started from the early A8 screen pop outs where the cogs were known to go faulty so people wanted it to stop coming out so frequently but even now, I google and loads of threads come up with no answers. You can hold down the volume knob which will turn off, put screen back in and the next time you start the car, stay that way but as you said, it turns it all off then.
