Hi:)

Going to look at a 2008 2.7tdi multitronic Le mans avant with less than 70k on the clock.

From reading threads here and on pistonheads the multitronic box is causing me some concern.

If the box has had the fluid changed at the required mileage, can the multitronic boxes be reliable?

Even when serviced correctly do they have a certain rough mileage figure before problems arise?

Any high mileage multitronic success stories?

Thanks I'm advance

Dont want to appear rude, but why buy a car with that hanging over your head for all time?

A few years ago when the wife said she wanted an Audi I did some research and came to the conclusion avoid the cvt at all costs and the only way to get a proper slush box was to buy the 3.0tdi quattro, shes on her 2nd one now and both have been good so far, the proper ZF autos have an excellent rep.

Im sure some people have had no issues but with 2nd hand cvts being rare as hens teeth and as expensive, quick look on ebay shows cvt for 2.7 to be just under 2k.

Many thanks

I may be able to get the car at a heavily reduced rate as it is from a family member on my wife's side. That's is why I'm considering it, even if I had to have the clutch/ecu repaired/replaced i would still make my money back (I think).

I was hoping for a few "mines done 120k as long as you look after them they're ok" posts

I'll go take a look anyway, see what it's like

MILTA Technology – Gearbox Technology of The Future. UK top experts in automatic gearbox repair and rebuild. (http://www.bristolgearboxcentre.com)

The place above do recon on your own box for £1250 worst case scenario. You drive/transport the car to them.

They get excellent reviews everywhere, this was the kind of thing that had me thinking if there was a chance of issues at least I had an option. But if I'm guaranteed to have issues with the box then I'll have to mull it over

I have the exact same car you are going to look at, it has now done 115k miles with no issues. I would have another multitronic tomorrow, provided it has been looked after it will be fine.
