Hi all. Just thought I'd introduce myself. I've owned my 07 plate Audi A6 2.0 tdi (140 hp) since 2012 and do all of my own maintenance. A catastrophic failure today has prompted me to join up and peruse everyone's previous experiences and info on how to fix.
Cheers

Thanks, I should have joined earlier really but I normally don't spend much time on the internet ( until recently )

I've been on here all day. It's already started. I've just had a look at my profile and the status under my name couldn't be further from the truth 😂

In my novice opinion, initial investigation shows nothing untoward. I can't see any damage.

However, now I've dried the pistons, there does appear to be a number of valve imprints in the carbon...

Pistons appear to have equal travel. All measuring 0.8mm above the block to a depth of 95mm. Hopefully that means I haven't bent any of the rods.

Valves appear to operate at slightly different heights 😖. I suspect they are bent, even though there was no sign of damage on the valves
