Our 1yo A6 Allroad has developed a low speed "clunk" on full lock, which feels like either we are running over something or else there's a slip/judder in the middle of the car.

I'm going to take it in, but wondered if anyone has experienced something like this?

I get what appears like a steering knock on full lock sometimes. I've had it on other cars and it's just the tyres in cold and damp weather jumping on the road surface when on full lock at very low speeds.

I get that little knock, when I turn in car parking spaces. I put it down to having monster wheels and the Ackerman steering geometry. Because of the width of the tyres, from the inner to outer edge, there is a skip in the traction. I've never considered it to be a problem, as it happens once on each manoeuvre. Is yours a single event or a continuous knocking?

On previous cars, a mk4 golf and skoda ocvtavia, knocking from the front end was an indication that the top munt bearings had perished, but on those cars it was through age 6/7/8 years.

Ps.... not sure that Ackerman is the correct term..... the difference in distance travelled between the inside and outside front wheels....

It's a single event, like a bump as we reverse out of the drive on full lock, or taking a 90 degree right hand turn, or doing a U turn. Seems more common when the car hasn't warmed up.

It will be when the tyres are cold and the ground is cold. The tyres jump on the surface when on full lock. It's worse in higher suspension modes as well. Try it in dynamic suspension and it will reduce the effect.

Agree, although my car does it on new tyres. The larger size tyres seem to make a difference as well as on the original 19's it was much better.

Yep I get the same , took it to Audi and told me that it was down the 4 wheel drive and also the suspension set up on the Allroad. I replace my front tires and still get the same skipping feeling one slow full lock . Have gotten used to it now . I have not noticed it since the weather has been warmer over the past few days 1st thing.

Just seem to be a trait of the design
