A couple of questions for those of you in the know...
My A6 sound seems to be lacking a big chunk of mid-range sound in the front seats area. I see that there are two grilles on the front doors but as far as I can see, only one (the lower one) covers a speaker.
Anyone got any recommendations for a better speaker with a wider frequency range than the original fitment please? (I'm not planning on refitting the whole system with Bose or B&O etc).
Also, what is the other grille for?
Thanks!

btw....
Since there seems to be little info about the whereabouts of the 10 speakers in the Audi Sound System, here's my assessment for those interested...
1 x centre front dashboard
2 x tweeters corner front dash
2 x front doors (bottom)
4 x rear doors
1 x 'sub' rear parcel shelf (even though presented as two grilles)

The top ones should be your mid and the lower would be the woofer unit. I thought the user manual for the MMI should show the location of speakers. Have you messed around with the sound settings on the MMI?

On the Audi Sound system the middle grilles on the doors aren't used - they are used for the Bose/B+O option.

Are you sure that the issue is with the speakers and not with the settings? I didn't used to have a major issue with the Midrange on my old A6 with the Audi system. I believe that the bass speakers in the front doors are 6.5", I don't know if there is any sort of internal crossover in the head unit that only sends lower frequencies to the door speakers and the higher frequencies to the tweeter on the dash - might be worth knowing this before you look to upgrade the door speakers. Might be worth calling a local car audio specialist for some advice.

Unless there's a layer of setup in the MMI that I'm not seeing, the only options are Treble, Bass, Balance, Fader & Sub.
The sound is clear enough, it just doesn't sound like I'm used to it sounding on other audio systems.
Thinking a hunt for a local car audio specialist is sounding like a plan!
