Hi,

Just picked up a new model A6 BE and want to wire in the Blackvue Cam.

In order to fully utilise the park mode with the cam I need a permanent 12v supply and a switched 12v supply from one of the fuse boxes.

Anybody given this a try yet?

Have looked at getting fuse connectors tio double up on fuses already used but dont know if this will complicate any of the cars electronics - it was far simpler years ago putting the old Moss alarm in...:D

Thanks for your help.

I have a Blackvue wired with both permanent and switched 12V. There are two fuse boxes easily accessible - one at each end of the dash. One of them - the left side, I think, supplies switched 12V and the other provides permanent 12V.

I used a piggy back connector in each box (they are mini fuses, not sull-sized) to provide the two power sources to the power management module for the camera. I fed the supply wire from the driver's side fusebox over the top of the transmission tunnel from footwell to footwell by using a coathanger to find a route through - it goes through easily, just probe gently. There is room for the power management unit to be popped into the passenger-side fusebox and from there you can get the power cable up to the windscreen.

Forgot to add: the piggy-back connectors provide the camera with its own fused supplies so there is no risk to, or issue with, the vehicle electronics.

Both drivers side fuse box:
For permanent 12V I used the lumbar support fuse (CarrierB slot 8)- I know it's surprising that it's permanent 12V, but it is.
For switched 12V I used the brake light sensor fuse (CarrierC slot 3)

The switched fuses don't lose voltage until a few mins after the ignition turns off, if you want to test with a multimeter give it a few mins.
