G'day all, looking for a bit of guidance before I part with me money!
Just chopped my A3 2.0 Tdi for a Golf Mk7, 2.0 Tdi SE, so far no regrets, just hope it gets to 150K miles like me A3 with no issues!.
Looking to fit a tow bar for all me stuff, just looking for clarification if the rear distance sensors pick up a static flange or Swan neck ball / coupling, or will it have to be a removable coupling so not to affect sensor range?
Any help appreciated, or if there's a s/h MK7 bar out there with electrics let me know?
Thanks.

Hi

A fixed flange towbar would most likely set off sensors
I'm afraid there's no way to be 100% sure if the sensors won't pick up on a fixed swan neck towbar although factory sensors are usually ok, what some people do as a guide is stand something up at the back of the vehicle to simulate where the towbar would be, like an aerosol can or something then switch the ignition on and put the car in reverse to see if it beeps. (Again it's not a 100% guarantee but it gives you an idea)

You should go for a detachable towbar to rule out the problem completely.

Kind Regards
